Attention Patients: Urgent Follow-Up update Regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus) 3/29/2020
We want to provide our patients updated changes at Dermatology Associates of Atlanta due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic. The physicians, PAs, and staff of DAA are committed to continuously providing the best and safest care to our patients. The following are just some of the changes we have implemented:
- We are open for patient visits for those who feel they need to be seen in person.
Although some providers have altered schedules, we will continue to have someone available for on-site visits. As you know, our practice is set up in suites, each of which is self-contained with its own front desk and medical assistants. This allows us the advantage to keep our waiting rooms small and minimize staff interaction between suites.
ALL PATIENTS WILL BE SCREENED OVER THE PHONE IN ANTICIPATION OF AN APPOINTMENT. IF YOU OR A LOVED ONE HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS OR HISTORY OF EXPOSURE TO COVID-19 (CORONAVIRUS), PLEASE RESCHEDULE OR TAKE ADVANTAGE OF OUR TELEDERMATOLOGY SERVICES.
Additionally, we are implementing social distancing by spreading out our patients and staff. Because we have a large number of suites available, some of our providers are seeing patients in alternate spaces to allow patients to isolate even more. To this end, we ask that only patients (and a parents/caregivers) arrive for appointments and that others remain in their vehicles.
- We are using readily available teledermatology visits for those who prefer.
We are using teledermatology, temporarily approved by government, to allow virtual visits. Over the past 2 weeks, we have conducted multiple teledermatology visits utilizing the following platforms for communication: FaceTime, Google Duo, Skype, and Zoom. Again, not every provider currently has access to allow teledermatology, but we have multiple providers who will continue to offer this option. Within the week, we will have our own teledermatology technology in place.
In the meantime, appointments are scheduled identically to in-person appointments by calling 404-256-4457. If you have another audio/video platform that you utilize, please let us know so we can work to make that available.
- If you need a product or refill of an office dispensed prescription, we offer a couple of additional options.
We continue to offer mailing of products directly to your residence. You can now contact our office to arrange for payment by telephone, then recontact once you have arrived, so that a staff member can meet you at your vehicle.
- Unfortunately, we are not offering spa services at this time.
The prolonged close contact of our patients and aestheticians is not a risk that we can mitigate without the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). PPE is currently needed in other healthcare departments such as hospitals and health practices directly fighting COVID-19 (Coronavirus). We will let you know our plans to offer these services again when it is safe to do so.
- Reminder: For the safety of all patients and staff, if in the last two weeks you have at any time acquired a fever or respiratory symptoms, or have been in contact with someone who has these symptoms or has traveled outside of the state of Georgia, please do not come into the office.
We look forward to continuing to serve our community.
Sincerely,
Dermatology Associates of Atlanta
