How Do Our Fat Reduction Treatments Work?

The main difference between UltraShape®, CoolSculpting®, and SlimLipo™ is the method used to eliminate the fat. UltraShape® is non-surgical and utilizes heat in the form of pulsed ultrasonic energy to target and destroy subcutaneous fat cells in the abdomen, flanks, and thighs. The fat is then flushed away through the body’s natural metabolic processes. Non-surgical CoolSculpting®, on the other hand, freezes away the fat using cryolipolysis, or targeted cold onto stubborn areas. The cold causes fat cells to self-destruct. Finally, SlimLipo™, a surgical procedure, uses a special laser wavelength to melt away fat and tighten the surrounding skin.

Who is a Good Candidate for Fat Reduction?

In general, significantly overweight individuals are not considered good candidates for non-invasive fat reduction. Fat reduction treatments are better suited for individuals who are close to their goal weight and want to get rid of small or isolated pockets of fat. If you follow a reasonably healthy diet and exercise regimen – but retain stubborn fat in problem areas around the body – UltraShape®, CoolSculpting®, or SlimLipo™ may be right for you.

What Kind of Results Can Patients Expect From Our Fat Reduction Treatments?

Every patient is different, but in general, patients who undergo fat reduction treatments experience a smoother, more contoured body with less fat. Many patients also lose at least a few pounds. UltraShape® patients can expect to see results within two to three weeks of the first treatment, with full results (4-6 cm abdominal circumference reduction) usually present after about a month.  Patients who choose CoolSculpting® experience full results – a 20% reduction in fat – within four to six months of treatment.  SlimLipo™ provides results within a few weeks of treatment. Additionally, for many who choose one of these fat reduction procedures, this can help jump-start ongoing weight loss.
