Is Hair Transplant Surgery My Only Option to Improve Hair Loss?
You don’t see as many toupees or wigs these days as you used to. While premature hair loss remains an incredibly common concern for both men and women, it’s a fact that hair restoration techniques have come a very long way in recent years. And that means people have far more hair restoration options than just hair transplant surgery. While hair transplants can be quite effective, the non-surgical approach to hair restoration can be preferable for many reasons. We have been treating hair loss for decades and have two treatment centers specifically dedicated to this. That’s why today, our board-certified dermatology professionals wanted to discuss some of the non-surgical hair restoration treatment options that we offer.
Oral & Topical Medications for Hair Growth
When it comes to treating genetic hair loss (androgenetic alopecia), in many cases, the first alternative to try and address is with medication. We offer a wide variety of hair restoration medications, both oral and topical, that can provide genuinely terrific results. This includes finasteride, an FDA-approved oral prescription medication specifically designed to block the production of DHT, a hormone known to cause a receding hairline and other hair loss issues. We also offer custom compound topical prescription medications that are made specifically for men and women. Finasteride can often be combined with topical medications like Retin-A®, as well as other ingredients, all that can aid in absorption and make the medication even more effective. We also offer certain hair loss products with essential nutrients like vitamins that can also enhance the effects of these medications.
Non-Surgical Hair Growth Treatments
We also perform several incredibly effective non-surgical hair restoration treatments that we’ve had remarkable success with over the years. AnteAGE® MD hair restoration uses a signature growth factor serum specifically designed to initiate new hair growth and reawaken dormant follicles. Similarly, we perform microneedling treatments with natural growth hormones to stimulate natural healing and revitalize damaged or unactivated hair follicles. Our other non-surgical hair growth treatments include red light therapy and regenerative cell therapy with XoGlo®.
Scalp Micropigmentation Treatments
Unlike the other treatments we’ve discussed, scalp micropigmentation will not actually regrow lost hair. But that doesn’t mean that it can’t be helpful. Similar to tattooing, the scalp micropigmentation process involves using pigments to mimic the appearance of hair follicles and stubble in areas of lost or thinning hair. In addition to helping patients who are concerned about hair loss, scalp micropigmentation treatments can also help reduce the appearance of scars on the scalp as well.
If you’ve noticed that your hair is thinning, take comfort in knowing that there are solutions available.
