At Dermatology Associates of Atlanta (DAA), we place great importance on having a collaborative and welcoming relationship with our patients, and we believe that when patients feel comfortable with their providers, it truly helps us to be able to serve you better. To further this effort, each month we are featuring one of our highly-skilled providers, and this month, the spotlight is on Kathryn Filipek MPAS, PA-C.

Kathryn’s medical expertise began with earning a Bachelor of Science in Biopsychology from the University of Michigan, as well as a Bachelor Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Nova Southeastern University. She then went on to earn her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska, and has been a certified physician assistant for over 15 years.

Throughout her career, Kathryn has continued to improve her mastery in the field through her membership in professional societies like the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Assistants. Before coming to DAA, Kathryn also gained valuable experience as a physician assistant in not only dermatology, but cardiology and cardiovascular surgery as well.

Since joining us at DAA in 2007, Kathryn has developed her expertise in a number of general dermatology and cosmetic dermatology treatments. Beyond the identification and treatment of skin conditions like skin cancer, acne, dermatitis, and warts, Kathryn enjoys helping cosmetic dermatology patients to achieve more confidence and self-esteem through treatments like CoolSculpting® fat reduction, and numerous anti-aging and facial rejuvenation treatments. One of her primary specialties is sclerotherapy, the removal of unwanted veins using precise injections that cause the vein to be absorbed by the body.

When she isn’t at DAA fulfilling her passion for patient care, Kathryn enjoys running, biking, kickboxing, competing in triathlons, and traveling.  She is able to do a lot of these activities with her husband and two daughters.  Kathryn was even able to do some recent medical mission work in Kenya, Africa.
