What Our Patients are Saying about Their Doctors
Looking for a new doctor can be a stressful process. After all, your health is at stake, and in the case of dermatology, your appearance is at stake, too. That’s why many of our patients have offered a helping hand to other Atlantans by posting reviews on websites like Facebook, Yelp, and RealSelf. At Dermatology Associates of Atlanta (DAA), in addition to our three board-certified physician assistants, our practice includes five board-certified dermatologists, each with their own specialties and personal styles. To get a better sense of all of our doctors, take a look at some of the things their patients had to say:
Dr. Edmond Griffin
Dr. Griffin is the founder of DAA, and the one who brought us all together. He began as a solo practice in 1976, and has built up DAA to the success it is now, helping hundreds of patients every day. On top of general dermatology, Dr. Griffin specializes in hair loss and hair transplants at one of our specialty centers, The Griffin Center of Hair Restoration and Research.
Dr. D. Scott Karempelis
When Dr. Karempelis (or “Dr. K,” as he is affectionately known to his patients and around the office) teamed up with Dr. Griffin in 1986, our practice officially adopted the name Dermatology Associates of Atlanta. Among other areas of dermatology, Dr. K largely focuses on laser treatments. In fact, our Laser Institute of Georgia is the largest laser skin care center in the Southeast.
Dr. Stephen Kraus
Just five years after Dr. K and Dr. Griffin joined forces, Dr. Kraus entered DAA as well. While he has a wide range of skills, Dr. Kraus has become most well-known for treating even the most stubborn acne effectively, often using customized prescription compounds which he designs for each patient’s unique skin.
Dr. Joseph Payne
In 2008, Dr. Payne became a part of the DAA team. One of his most specialized skills is performing Mohs skin cancer removal surgery. This highly precise and unique procedure, typically used for more advanced or persistent tumors, involves slowly and carefully removing cancerous tissue and examining it under a microscope to ensure that all of the cancer has been extracted while keeping the scarring as minimal as possible.
Dr. Ashley Curtis
While she is DAA’s newest physician, having joined the practice in 2011, Dr. Curtis has quickly developed an exceptional reputation with our patients. One of her primary areas of expertise is hair loss and hair restoration for both men and women, and she also focuses significantly on using natural growth factors for various treatments.
