If you’re new to CoolSculpting®, though, it helps to have an idea of what to expect. Fortunately, we have had the privilege of being one of the first medical practices in our area to perform the procedure, so we have an abundance of experience to guide you. To help, we’re walking you through the experience of a CoolSculpting® treatment at Dermatology Associates of Atlanta.

Your Pre-Treatment CoolSculpting® Consultation

Before your CoolSculpting® treatment (or any cosmetic treatment at Dermatology Associates of Atlanta) you will have a dedicated consultation with your provider. This is your opportunity to ask any questions you may have and get a detailed understanding of the procedure. Your provider will discuss your goals and expectations and make sure CoolSculpting® non-surgical fat reduction is the best fit to achieve the results you want.

Your CoolSculpting® Treatment

To start, your provider will take your “before” pictures so you’ll be able to see the difference in the weeks ahead. Next, your provider will start preparing for your treatment. They will customize the settings on the CoolSculpting® machine based on the area being treated and other specifications of your procedure. They will also determine the ideal placement for the CoolSculpting® applicators on your treatment area.

When it’s time for your treatment to begin, your provider will place a gel pad on your skin to create a barrier between the applicator and your skin. They will then place the applicator onto your treatment area. The applicator has an opening inside, and you will feel gentle suction as the applicator pulls your treatment area into its cooling compartment.

Your treatment time will vary based on the type of CoolSculpting® machine used and the area or areas being treated. Throughout this time, though, you’ll be able to rest comfortably while the applicator delivers precise cooling. Many people read, catch up on emails, watch their favorite show, or even take a nap during their session. When your treatment is finished, your provider will remove the applicator and then the gel pad before massaging the area for a few minutes to help break up the fat cells.

After Your CoolSculpting® Treatment

Because CoolSculpting® is entirely non-invasive, it requires little or no downtime. Your provider will give you instructions on caring for your treatment area and optimizing your results, but you can otherwise immediately go back to your day. You’ll see your results develop in the coming weeks, with most results being visible within two to three months.

EMSculpt® Muscle Toning and Fat Reduction is not a complete substitute for weight loss or exercise. It’s designed to help create noticeable definition and tone areas of the midsection and buttocks that can tend to be exercise-resistant. However, exercising in between EMSculpt® treatment sessions will only accentuate and highlight the results.

Complete the recommended amount of treatment sessions

Your Liposuction Questions Answered

Q.) Is liposuction a good choice for people who want to lose weight?

A.) Liposuction procedures were developed for body contouring rather than a weight loss method. Good candidates for liposuction procedures are those who exercise regularly, but have stubborn areas of fat that will not respond to diet or exercise. The risks associated with this procedure increase as the amount of fluid and fat to be removed increases. Therefore, liposuction procedures are not recommended for people trying to lose weight.

Q.) Are there any side effects associated with liposuction?
A.) The most common side effects are bruising and swelling, but these side effects are limited with proper post-op care. Elastic compression garments should be worn for six weeks after surgery to minimize side effects.

Q.) What is laser liposuction, and how does it work?
A.) Laser liposuction is a fat reduction method that uses a laser to loosen the undesired fat cells in the treatment area for easier removal. It is occasionally used in conjunction with our tumescent liposuction procedures to provide patients with the best results possible.

Q.) Will multiple liposuction procedures be necessary to achieve desired results?
A.) Patients receiving surgical liposuction (including laser liposuction) should see a visible improvement in just one treatment and should not need additional treatments with proper post-op care.

Q.) Are multiple treatments with Zeltiq™ and Zerona® necessary to achieve desired liposuction results?
A.) While improvements are evident after one treatment with non-surgical liposuction, such as Zerona® and Zeltiq™, multiple treatments (6 for Zerona® and 2 for Zeltiq™) will be necessary for optimal results.

Q.) Will the fat removed during a liposuction procedure return?
A.) Fat cells develop during or shortly after puberty, so liposuction (both surgical and non-surgical) produces long lasting results. Liposuction patients can potentially increase the size of their remaining fat cells by gaining weight; therefore, healthy diet and exercise should not be neglected even after liposuction.
