As temperatures start to warm up and you begin to bring out the shorts and dresses, the providers of Dermatology Associates of Atlanta want you to feel confident! In preparation for the summertime, you are invited to a special CoolSculpting® and liposuction lunch and learn event. On Friday, April 12, 2013 from 12 to 2pm, guests can receive 20% off their total quoted price for CoolSculpting® or 20% off physician fees for lipo when they schedule their appointment at the event.
Event attendees will also have an opportunity to learn about both CoolSculpting® and lipo procedures to find out which treatment is right for them. You’ve probably heard the phrase “two is better than one” at some point in your life, and Dermatology Associates of Atlanta has set out to guarantee this statement rings true with their additional CoolSculpting® machine. As the first practice in Georgia to offer this method of fat reduction, Dermatology Associates is proud to now be the only Atlanta practice offering two CoolSculpting machines for Dual Cool treatments. By performing DualSculpting treatments, we can provide shorter treatment times for each patient and a more flexible treatment schedule.
CoolSculpting is the perfect, non-invasive solution for eliminating small areas of unwanted fat without liposuction surgery. By using a process called Cryolipolysis™, CoolSculpting freezes the fat within cells beyond viability. Over time, the fat is expelled through the body’s lymphatic system. CoolSculpting is designed for patients who are in good physical condition and have small pockets of fat that just won’t respond to diet and exercise.
Since the process is gradual, patients usually begin noticing results about 2 or 3 months after their initial treatment. Full results, which produce a 20-40% fat reduction, will appear in 4-6 months. Although one treatment will produce evident results, some patients pursue a second treatment to optimize CoolSculpting results. During treatment, the CoolSculpting device is attached to the treatment area and left for a period of time (about an hour per area). Although you may feel a slight pinch and cold when the treatment begins, the targeted area will become numb. You will be able to read, watch a movie, use a laptop, talk on the phone, etc. during treatment.
Some patients have asked why two CoolSculpting machines should matter to them. The CoolSculpting device only treats one area at a time; typically the size of one hand. Although treatment isn’t uncomfortable, it can be tedious for patients who wish to treat multiple areas. With DualSculpting, treatment times can be halved to help get you back to your busy schedule.
If you’re interested in learning more about CoolSculpting, don’t miss our Cool Day In lunch and learn event on Friday, June, 15th from 12-2pm. Dermatology Associates of Atlanta adds SlimLipo™ to the menu of non-invasive fat reduction procedures and hosts Coolsculpting® event to educate patients on fat reduction and skin tightening options.
Drs. Edmond Griffin and Scott Karempelis have performed Atlanta liposuction since 1986; over two decades of fat reduction surgery experience serving tens of thousands of patients allows these Atlanta dermatologists to stay ahead of the dermatology technology curve to provide the most effective body contouring procedures available including the newest, minimally invasive procedures SlimLipo™ and Coolsculpting®.
The first practice in Georgia to introduce the Coolsculpting® procedure last fall, Dermatology Associates’ cosmetic specialty center, Atlanta Cosmetic Surgery Center will host A Cool Night Out Wednesday, September 21st to educate current and potential patients on the cosmetic uses of Coolsculpting® fat reduction. The free event will feature a live Coolsculpting® demonstration, raffle for $750 worth of the highly publicized “freeze the fat” procedure (also known as Cryolipolysis™ by Zeltiq), and an expert panel to answer questions about this and other fat reduction procedures. Those who plan to attend are asked to RSVP toMore
The physicians and providers of Dermatology Associates of Atlanta understand that everybody is different and every body is shaped differently. For that reason, we offer a variety of fat reduction and liposuction procedures that aren’t one-size-fits-all. Whether you just want to tighten loose skin, get rid of excess fat, or do a little of both, we have a body contouring procedure to meet your needs. Our patients often ask about the differences in fat reduction procedures, so we’ve decided to compile an overview so that our cosmetic treatment patients can be more aware of all of their options.
Drs. Griffin and Karempelis have been practicing tumescent liposuction procedures since 1986, a method that’s still often performed today. In fact, a liposuction study published in ASAPS’ Aesthetic Surgery Journal earlier this year stated that 51% of surgeons preferred tumescent liposuction to other techniques. During tumescent, or “wet,” liposuction, a diluted solution containing a local anesthetic and epinephrine is injected to “puff up” the fat for easier removal. Most patients are able to get back to their normal activities within a week of their procedure, although they should continue to wear post-surgical compression garments in order to reduce swelling and optimize the fat reduction results.
While not exactly a fat reduction procedure, many liposuction patients also pursue fat transfer. During fat transfer, a patient’s own unwanted fat is used to plump up wrinkles and areas of lost volume that contribute to signs of aging similar to the way facial fillers such as Restylane® and Juvéderm work to rejuvenate the appearance. After the excess fat is removed, it is purified and then re-injected into those areas that need refinement like the hands, wrinkles, and even acne scars. Fat transfer also promotes collagen production for ongoing rejuvenation.More
As the weather warms and swimsuit season gets closer, fat reduction seems to be at the forefront of everyone’s mind (both men and women). If the dizzying array of swim suit styles has your head spinning, then you’re sure to be shocked by the staggering amount of weight loss, fat reduction, and skin tightening options available. This is why we’d like to take the opportunity to explain all of the body contouring procedures available at Dermatology Associates of Atlanta’s specialty centers:
Tumescent Liposuction- One of the most trusted liposuction techniques, tumescent liposuction is performed under general anesthesia and used to remove areas of excess fat from men and women. More
Q.) Is liposuction a good choice for people who want to lose weight?
A.) Liposuction procedures were developed for body contouring rather than a weight loss method. Good candidates for liposuction procedures are those who exercise regularly, but have stubborn areas of fat that will not respond to diet or exercise. The risks associated with this procedure increase as the amount of fluid and fat to be removed increases. Therefore, liposuction procedures are not recommended for people trying to lose weight.
Q.) Are there any side effects associated with liposuction? A.) The most common side effects are bruising and swelling, but these side effects are limited with proper post-op care. Elastic compression garments should be worn for six weeks after surgery to minimize side effects.
Q.) What is laser liposuction, and how does it work? A.) Laser liposuction is a fat reduction method that uses a laser to loosen the undesired fat cells in the treatment area for easier removal. It is occasionally used in conjunction with our tumescent liposuction procedures to provide patients with the best results possible.
Q.) Will multiple liposuction procedures be necessary to achieve desired results? A.) Patients receiving surgical liposuction (including laser liposuction) should see a visible improvement in just one treatment and should not need additional treatments with proper post-op care.
Q.) Are multiple treatments with Zeltiq™ and Zerona® necessary to achieve desired liposuction results? A.) While improvements are evident after one treatment with non-surgical liposuction, such as Zerona® and Zeltiq™, multiple treatments (6 for Zerona® and 2 for Zeltiq™) will be necessary for optimal results.
Q.) Will the fat removed during a liposuction procedure return? A.) Fat cells develop during or shortly after puberty, so liposuction (both surgical and non-surgical) produces long lasting results. Liposuction patients can potentially increase the size of their remaining fat cells by gaining weight; therefore, healthy diet and exercise should not be neglected even after liposuction.
