CellFX® Skin Lesion Treatment At Dermatology Associates of Atlanta

Everyone wants their skin to be smooth and clear from unwanted bumps and lesions. While most of these lesions and bumps aren’t harmful, they can get in the way of your confidence, and some can spread to others as well. That’s why Dermatology Associates of Atlanta is proud to be only the third practice nationwide to offer the advanced CellFX® skin lesion treatment.

CellFX® is an innovative FDA-approved technology that treats select types of benign skin lesions like warts and sebaceous hyperplasia. The procedure uses an exclusive technology called Nano-Pulse Stimulation™ or NPS™. Ultrafine needles deliver extremely quick nanosecond pulses of electrical energy into the lesion. This works at a cellular level, helping your body to break down the unwanted lesion without affecting the healthy tissue around the abnormal cells. The result is a gradual clearing of your skin lesion and the growth of healthy new skin cells in its place.

Benefits of CellFX® for Warts and Other Benign Skin Lesions

CellFX® is unlike other treatments that have been used for skin lesions in the past. Because the technology uses non-thermal energy and works at a cellular level, it has a lower risk for scarring than similar procedures. Treating your wart or other lesion with CellFX® also lowers the risk that it will regrow. We have had exceptional success treating warts with CellFX®, especially stubborn warts that don’t respond to other treatments.

CellFX® doesn’t only cause your body to break down and remove abnormal cells but it stimulates your body’s natural process to grow healthy new skin cells. Rather than seeing a scar when your wart or other lesion fades, you will see healthy new skin.

What to Expect from the CellFX® Skin Lesion Treatment

CellFX® is a very quick treatment. After you meet with one of our skilled and experienced providers at Dermatology Associates of Atlanta to determine if CellFX® is the best fit for your needs, we will schedule your treatment appointment.

Treatment with CellFX® generally takes 10-15 minutes depending on the number of lesions you are treating. Your board-certified dermatologist or dermatologic physician assistant will begin by numbing the area with a local anesthetic. When the area is numb, we use the CellFX® technology to treat each individual lesion. It takes only seconds to treat each lesion.

After your procedure, your provider may bandage your treated lesions to help the areas heal, but there is no downtime needed. You can return to your daily activities as soon as your treatment is finished. However, we may give you additional care instructions for lesions that are in weight-bearing areas or areas that tend to rub often.

Your lesions will gradually clear after your treatment. They typically clear within 30-60 days, and the skin in the area is usually healed within 60-90 days. Keep in mind, however, that every patient is unique so these timelines will vary. Smaller lesions typically only need one treatment, but larger or deeper lesions may require additional sessions. Your provider may schedule a follow-up appointment 30 days after your first treatment to determine if a second session is necessary.

To find out if CellFX® is the best way to remove your wart, sebaceous hyperplasia, or other benign skin lesion, call Dermatology Associates of Atlanta to schedule your consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions About the CellFX® Skin Lesion Treatment

Are there any side effects to CellFX®?

In the initial days after your treatment, you can expect to see all the usual signs of healing in the treatment area, such as redness, crusting, and scabbing. Is CellFX® covered by insurance?

CellFX® is an innovative new procedure and as such, it is not covered by insurance. At your consultation, we can discuss the expected costs for your needs and explain our self-pay payment options.
