Facial Filler and Facial Rejuvenation Treatment
BOTOX® and Dysport®
BOTOX® and Dysport® are FDA-approved for the treatment of facial lines and wrinkles for up to six months.* These injectables are made from a highly purified protein that, when administered by a trained physician, can smooth out wrinkles around the eyes, furrows between the eyebrows and forehead, “smile lines” around the mouth, lines on the neck and droopy eyelids caused by sagging excess skin. BOTOX® and Dysport® work by relaxing the surrounding muscles in the face, which not only works to correct wrinkles and fine lines, but helps prevent them from deepening further. BOTOX® is also FDA approved for treatment of migraine headaches, excessive sweating under the arms, and neck and eye muscle spasms.

Restylane®
Restylane® is a safe, effective facial filler used to smooth facial wrinkles and enhance and restore volume to facial areas like the lips and cheeks; it has been FDA-approved for lip enhancement in adults over 21. Restylane® can last 6-12 months depending on what area of the face is being treated.* No skin test is required with Restylane® because it is produced from hyaluronic acid (found naturally in the skin) so there is little chance of an allergic reaction.
Restylane® silk has been specifically formulated and FDA-approved to enhance lip fullness in adults and to address fine lines and wrinkles around the lips. Ideal for patients who are unhappy with the “smile lines” between the lips and nose, as well as patients who have lost fullness in their lips due to natural aging, Restylane® silk can address both issues in the same treatment, and clinical trials suggest that the results can last as long as 6 months after injection.*

Restylane® Lyft is FDA-approved to add volume to the cheeks as well as to minimize wrinkles around the mouth. One of the most significant causes of facial aging is the natural loss of fat from the face as we get older. Restylane® Lyft, which also includes lidocaine to maximize your comfort during the procedure, can restore youthful volume and create a softer, younger appearance while maintaining natural-looking results.
Restylane® Refyne™ and Restylane® Defyne™
One of the reasons wrinkles around the mouth and nose are so common is because we’re constantly moving these areas to talk, laugh, eat, and more. But some patients feel that when they receive traditional fillers (like Restylane®) into these areas, the added volume makes their facial expressions feel stiffer and less natural. To answer this concern, Restylane® developed two new products: Refyne™ and Defyne™. These innovative fillers use more flexible molecules, so you still receive a beautiful result but with a more natural feel. Both fillers are ideal for moderate to severe nasolabial folds and marionette lines, but Defyne™ is designed for deeper wrinkles than Refyne™.
Juvéderm®

Juvéderm® is a facial filler composed of hyaluronic acid that is approved by the FDA to last up to one year. Juvéderm® sets itself apart from other facial fillers with Hylacross™ technology, which is made of smoother properties and a less granular consistency. Juvéderm® is commonly used to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles. The providers of Dermatology Associates of Atlanta use Juvéderm® to augment areas of the face that have lost volume over time. Juvéderm® can improve facial lines between the nose and mouth (smile lines), the creases of the cheek, and small wrinkles on, above, and below the edges of the lips*. Juvéderm® contains the local anesthetic lidocaine to avoid patient discomfort. Juvéderm® products are FDA approved for patients over the age of 21.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is an extremely popular facial filler because it provides beautiful results, and Juvéderm® has now found a way to improve it even further. Used for patients over the age of 21 who want to reduce moderate to severe facial wrinkles (such as the nasolabial folds, or “laugh lines”), Juvéderm Vollure™ XC creates fast yet long-lasting results with a brief treatment time (often just 15 minutes), no downtime, and minimal side effects when administered by a qualified and trained medical professional, like our board-certified dermatologists and physician assistants at DAA. Using their new Vycross® technology, Juvéderm Vollure™ XC is the first and only FDA-approved HA filler with results that can last up to 18 months for moderate to severe facial wrinkles—a dramatic improvement from the typical 6- to 9-month results of most HA fillers for this area*.

Juvéderm Voluma® XC
There is no anti-aging treatment that lasts forever, but Juvéderm® is taking a step in that direction. Juvéderm Voluma® XC is part of a new line of fillers made with Vycross™ technology, the specialized process used for Juvéderm®’s other new fillers to make them last significantly longer than other hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers. What sets Juvéderm Voluma® XC apart is that it lasts up to twice as long as traditional fillers and that it’s designed specifically for restoring volume to the cheeks, creating a fuller and more youthful look*.

Juvéderm Volbella® XC
Much like Juvéderm®’s other two new fillers, Voluma® XC and Vollure™ XC, the innovative Juvéderm Volbella® XC lasts longer than typical hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers. But Volbella® XC is specially designed for the lips, offering a fuller pout for a longer duration*.

Sculptra®
Sculptra® is a safe, synthetic material made up of poly-L-lactic acid and is approved by the FDA for restoring lost facial volume, also known as lipotrophy. Because Sculptra® has had such a strong success rate, Dr. Scott Karempelis uses the filler to provide a more youthful appearance in patients who have lost facial fat over time. Sculptra® normally requires multiple injections to achieve desired results, can last up to two years and does not require any allergy tests.

Radiesse®
Radiesse® facial filler is an FDA-approved wrinkle treatment comprised of calcium based microspheres. Radiesse® is different than most facial fillers because in addition to correcting facial lines, it stimulates the body’s natural production of collagen. Collagen is a protein of connective tissue in our bodies that supports our internal organs. Because collagen diminishes with age, Radiesse® help reverse the effects of aging. Radiesse® is biocompatible, so no allergy tests are necessary prior to your procedure.
While other dermal fillers can only be used for the face, Radiesse® is also FDA-approved for hand rejuvenation. Part of the aging process is loss of fat in the hands. Losing that cushion of fat can make veins and tendons more visible and can cause hands to appear shriveled. Radiesse® restores youthful volume and gives the hands a smoother and more refreshed appearance.

Belotero Balance®
Belotero Balance® is an FDA-approved dermal filler that smoothes moderate to severe wrinkles and restores lost volume on the face. This facial filler is especially effective for fine superficial lines and under the eyes. Belotero Balance® is unique to other facial fillers available at Dermatology Associates of Atlanta as it uses a cohesive gel that provides instant results. Belotero Balance® is a filler that quickly integrates into the patient’s skin to create more natural results. It is also the least likely hyaluronic filler to be seen under the skin when placed superficially. Most patients see results for about six months after one treatment.* As with any facial rejuvenation procedure, Belotero Balance® may have side effects including short-term inflammation, bruising and redness that usually subside within a week.

How is Belotero Balance® different from other facial fillers?
Belotero Balance® differs from other facial fillers as it uses a unique cohesive gel that assimilates with a patient’s skin to create more natural-looking dermal filler results.
How long will my results last after one treatment?
Most patients will be able to see results almost instantly after treatment. Although each patient’s results will vary, many patients can expect a noticeable increase in restored volume and smoother skin to last six months or more.*
How long will it take me to recover from a treatment?
This minimally invasive dermal filler requires very little downtime. Most patients can return to their regular activities immediately following treatment; however, as with all facial injectables, there is a risk of temporary side effects including swelling and redness that generally subside within a week.
